WARREN COUNTY WORKING GROUP
FROM: MIKE KELLY
SUBJECT: ACTIVITY UPDATE
I have been notified by both Soil & Materials Engineering and Environmental
Investigations that they want to mobilize to the site on Wednesday, February 12th.
S&ME has indicated that the first three days will be used to check the integrity of the
landfill; February 17-21, drilling activities; 24th. complete patching and securing the liner and
demob from site.
I am meeting with S&ME in the morning to look at their plans, and hopefully send to
EPA for approval to dig in the landfill.
The well digger has ordered the schedule 10 piping and will put the wells in as quickly as
possible, starting on the 12th. They are doing a recon of the area tomorrow, and we have the
scheduled pre-construction meeting next Thursday (6th, at 10:00 am.) I will be in Warren
County as well on Wednesday to take care of a variety of miscellaneous things, and hopefully
secure the other two sites for the off-site wells.
I have a number of issues going-from porta johns to electrical power. Please let me
know if you have a list of things that we need to be sure get taken care of. I met with members
of my staff this afternoon to give them the proposed schedule. I hope that we will be able to
schedule the sampling event the week of March 3, and there are a lot of things that need to be
done, so please help me out because things are starting to move along fairly quickly now.
Hopefully, I will have the final draft of the RFP for the bench study (Phase I & II) faxed
to you in the morning. I plan to do another review myself tonight. Patrick-I do not have any
rating scheme in there; How important do you all think that is? And can we get one put together
this week? You will notice the proposed schedule of events have the RFP going out by the first,
and I am trying to get it advertised in the February 1 state purchasing guide. Joel-I have
adjusted the schedule of events; you did not give a very clear example of what you had in mind,
and I hope this is better suited. Do you all see any problems with these time frames? From
either perspective? I'll talk to you later!
