Re: Joint Warren County/State PCB Landfill Working Group Conference Call
:rvreeting .• •
Date: December 12, i995
The Working Group met .via conference call on ~:fonday, December 11, 1995 at 7:30 pm
• to respond •to the memorandum from you addressed to Dollie Burv;ell and Henry
Lancaster. I was chosen by the group to write this response because I was the facilitator •
for the conference tall meeting. Although you did not feel that your concern·s should be
directed to the Working Group,_ we felt that, considering the seriousness of the •
allegations, these matters should be discussed by the group appointed and elected. Se\·eral
working group members· and I could not understand why you felt it nec~ssary to send
copies of your memorandum to non-members while not corresponding at all with actual
• members. Th.is was ~specially incredulous considenng the concerns addressed in your
memorandum, I would have felt that you would h~ve been more cognizant ot' and • •
sympathetic to the democratic process the i:orking group has tried to adhere to . \Ve are
very sorry that you were not able to join us on the conference call.
During the conference call meeting all working group members present (the names of all
participants are below) unanimously agreed that the ranking process used for the Science
Advisor was not based on race or partisan politics but based on the criteria provided by
the technology committee and discussed and voted on by the foll workli1g group. The .
working group got the "weighting scores,, from the executive committee, accepted· the
recommendations and is ready to proceed to the interview process. It was further agreed
that if for arty reason you cannot accept the ·decision of the working grqup, you should
remove yourself fromthe intervie\\· process scheduled for Wednesday> December 13~
1995. We carefully revie, ved your memorandum to make sure that we did not trivialize
your concerns. Each member was polled and I reiterate, the vote was unanimous.
