Fairfield Road High Point, North Carolina 27263 Incident 95201 Kleinfelder Project No. 20213510.001A Dear Mr. Curry: Kleinfelder is pleased to provide the results of the May 2021 free product recovery completed at the referenced facility. METHODOLOGY A 24-hour mobile multi-phase extraction (MMPE) event was conducted on May 4 and 5, 2021 within the C2 Undercoating Building. Prior to the MMPE event, monitoring wells MW-1 through MW-6, and recovery wells RW-1, RW-2 and RW-3 were gauged for the presence of free product (attached table 1). The MMPE event consisted of placing a poly vinyl chloride (PVC) stinger pipe into the wells with a rubber seal and placing a constant 17 to 18 inches of mercury vacuum on the wells. The well locations are presented on attached Figure 2. FINDINGS During the MMPE event, a total of 180 gallons of water and product were removed from the site and properly disposed at a North Carolina certified disposal facility. Of the 180 gallons of liquid, 23 gallons were determined to be free product. A copy of the MMPE report is included as an attachment. Free product levels measured on May 2, 2021 were compared to those measured immediately prior to the April 6, 2021 MMPE event as well as the intermediate gauging event on May 19, 2021. The free product thickness in monitoring well MW-4 had decreased between April 6 and May 2 by 0.07 feet. The free product thickness in recovery well RW-1 decreased between April 6 and May 2 by 0.72 feet. The free product thickness in recovery well RW-2 had increased between April 6 and May 2 by 0.07 feet. The free product thickness in recovery well RW-3 had decreased between April 6 and May 2 by 0.15 feet. The free product thicknesses decreased between May 2 and May 19 in MW-4, RW-2 and RW-3 with a slight increase in RW-1. No free product was detected in monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-5 or MW-6. To date, a total of 811 gallons of free product and 5450 gallons of groundwater/product have been recovered. The historical 20213510.001A | RAL21L126135 Page 2 of 2 May 25, 2021 © 2021 Kleinfelder www.kleinfelder.com free product measurements are provided on attached Table 1 and the total estimated quantity of free product and groundwater recovered to date is included on attached Table 2. The MMPE system was active for 24.0 hours. During the event vacuum at the recovery pump ranged from 19.0 to 21.0 inches of mercury (hg) and stabilized at approximately 19.0 inches of mercury. Airflow rates ranged from 2,800 to 3,100 feet per minute and stabilized at 3,100 feet per minute. System temperature ranged from 114 - 140 degrees (F) and humidity ranged from 47 to 99 percent. Field gauged volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) decreased from 1,000 parts per-million (PPM) to 500 PPM throughout the event. Groundwater / Product Mix Recovered: During the event, a total of 180 gallons of product/water mix were removed from the site and properly disposed at a certified North Carolina disposal facility. An estimated 23 gallons of free product was recovered as liquid. Total fluids recovered, was measured based on stick readings conducted during and following the event. Based on 24.0 hours of operation and a total of 180 gallons recovered, the average groundwater recovery rate was calculated to be approximately 7.50 gallons per hour. Events Results: Based on mass-removal calculations 2.17 pounds or 0.35 gallons of VOC’s were removed as vapor. Using Dwyer Magnehelic gauges, vacuum influence (inches of water) was measured at monitoring point MW-5. Vacuum influence was observed at monitoring point MW-5 up to 0.05 inches of water. Draw-down was observed in MW-5 at 0.02 feet.
