Market Street, Suite 300 Greensboro, NC 27401 Dear Mr. Mao: Subject: Monitoring Well Abandonment Ryder Greensboro LC 0134 217 Atwell Avenue Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina CEC Project 190-913 Ryder Truck Rental, Inc. (Ryder) operates a fleet maintenance facility at 217 Atwell Avenue in Greensboro, Guilford County, North Carolina (Subject Property). Two Underground Storage Tank (UST) systems, a diesel and a used oil, were closed at this facility during 2019. Because groundwater was encountered during the closure activities, and in accordance with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NC DEQ) UST regulations, two monitoring wells, MW-1 and MW-2, were installed. Monitoring well MW-1 was installed adjacent to the diesel UST basin and monitoring well MW-2 was installed adjacent to the used oil UST basin. The approximate locations of the monitoring wells are shown on Figure 1. A UST closure report was submitted to the NC DEQ on September 3, 2020. The NC DEQ issued a No Further Action (NFA) letter for the diesel UST system on September 21, 2020. Following a limited background soil assessment for chromium, the NC DEQ issued a NFA letter for the used oil UST system on January 28, 2022. Based on the NFA letters issued for each of the UST system closures, the two monitoring wells at the Subject Property were abandoned on June 9, 2022. Well abandonment activities were performed by a licensed North Carolina well driller and in accordance with the Title 15A North Carolina Administrative Code (NCAC) 02C. A copy of the Well Abandonment Record (GW-30 Form) and photo documentation are provided as attachments.
