2.0 INTRODUCTION
This report details the installation of four groundwater monitoring wells identified as MW-17R, MW-
17AR, MW-18R2, and MW-18AR2 located at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Landfill V. The landfill
operates under solid waste permit No. 1304-MSWLF-1992 and is located at 5105 Morehead Road
in Concord, North Carolina. This report serves as the required certification for the well installations.
The facility and monitoring well locations are depicted on Attachment 1.
3.0 MONITORING WELL INSTALLATION
The well installations began September 5 and were completed on September 12, 2023, by
Innovative Environmental Technologies (IET) (North Carolina Certified Well Contractor #2209-A). The
well installation records (forms GW-1) provided by IET are provided as Attachment 2. The
installations were completed under the supervision of Jared Hamela, a North Carolina Licensed
Geologist.
Well installation activities were performed with a Mobile Drill B-57 advancing boreholes via a
combination of 4.75 and 6.5-inch hollow -stem augers until target depth or auger refusal. 6-inch air
rotary tooling was used to advance boreholes beyond auger refusal to target depths in bedrock.
Monitoirng wells were installed with 2-inch PVC material. Sand pack (GP#1) was placed in the
annular space to a depth of 1-3 feet above the top of the well -screened interval. A bentonite seal of
2-3 feet was placed in the annular space above the sand pack, and the remaining annular space
was filled with a grout slurry. The grout slurry was tremied-piped in neat cement with a mixture ratio
of 94 pounds of Portland cement to 7 gallons of water. A photographic log of the completed wells is
provided as Attachment 3. Boring Logs for the wells installed are provided as Attachment 4 and a
well construction table is provided as Attachment 5.
