Barnardsville, Buncombe County, North Carolina  UST # AS‐3932  Groundwater Incident Number: 41045  WR Project Number:  23‐0307‐AI    Mr. Ryals:  WithersRavenel, Inc. (WR) has completed a limited groundwater sampling event as described in  our proposal number TA‐01 for the above referenced site, approved by the UST Section on June  15, 2023.  This event included the gauging, purging and sampling of monitoring wells MW‐1,  MW‐2 and MW‐3R.  Activities completed in association with this TA are discussed in the  following paragraphs.      Well Gauging  WR personnel mobilized to the site on July 7, 2023 for the purposes of completing activities  associated with this TA.  On arrival, WR personnel opened and gauged monitoring wells with a  decontaminated product/water interface probe.  In the completion of gauging activities,  LNAPL/free product was not identified in any of the wells gauged.  Gauging data are summarized  below:    Well ID Depth to  LNAPL/Product Depth to Water Well Depth LNAPL/Product  Thickness  MW‐1 Following gauging, WR purged and sampled monitoring wells MW‐1, MW‐2 and MW‐3R.  By  way of purging, WR utilized a new, disposable polyethylene (PE) bailers to remove a total of  three‐volumes of water from the wells, excepting the 1‐inch diameter well, MW‐3R.  Following  purging and allowing sufficient time for recovery of groundwater within the wells, samples were Report – Limited Groundwater Sampling Event July 2023 Page 2   July 7, 2023 were submitted to Waypoint Analytical, LLC (Waypoint) under chain‐of‐custody  protocols for analysis by Standard Method (SM) 6200B.    Laboratory Results – MW‐1, MW‐2, MW‐3R  Analytical results for the sample obtained from site monitoring wells on July 7, 2023 indicated  the following:     One or more targeted compounds were reported in the samples from MW‐1 and MW‐3R at  concentrations exceeding their NC 2L Standards.   No compounds were reported in excess of their NC GCLs.   Naphthalene was the sole compound reported in the sample from MW‐2.  The level of  naphthalene reported in the sample was not in excess of the NC 2L Standard.       Total VOC concentrations for samples collected in July 2023 showed the following changes over The above referenced project has been analyzed per your instructions. The analyses were performed in accordance with the applicable analytical method. The analytical data has been validated using standard quality control measures performed as required by the analytical method. Quality Assurance, method validations, instrumentation maintenance and calibration for all parameters were performed in accordance with guidelines established by the USEPA (including 40 CFR 136 Method Update Rule May 2021) unless otherwise indicated. Certain parameters (chlorine, pH, dissolved oxygen, sulfite...) are required to be analyzed within 15 minutes of sampling.
