Good morning,
The Underground Storage Tank (UST) Section of the Division of Waste Management has
issued a Notice of No Further Action regarding a petroleum release from a former UST systemlocated at 5024 Hwy 64 West in Hayesville, Clay County. In 1989, a petroleum release was
discovered during tank removal activities at Hill’s Grocery. In 1992, the site wasrecommended to the State-Lead Cleanup program, Federal Trust Fund. We have assessed and
mitigated the release, and on June 6, 2023, the Clay County Register of Deeds recorded aNotice of Residual Petroleum on the property deed (Book CRP 476, Page 20), with land use
restrictions on the groundwater.
Based on information provided to date, the UST Section finds it appropriate to classify the riskof the discharge or release as low. Furthermore, the UST Section determines that no further
action is warranted for this incident. A copy of the No Further Action letter is attached. Ifyou have any questions concerning this Notice, please contact me.
Best Regards,
