DBA Kwik Stop #3 204 North Greensboro Street Liberty, NC 27298-2604 RE: Former Handy Mart#3 204 North Greensboro Street Liberty, NC Incident#30208 Dear Mr. Oza: The Winston-Salem Regional office of the North Carolina Underground Storage Tank (UST) has recommended that the referenced site be accepted in to the State Lead Clean-up Program. The purpose of this letter is to explain an alternative to Shakunt, Inc. Handy Mart applied for eligibility to receive reimbursement from the North Carolina Leaking Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Trust Fund for the incident. In a letter dated August 23, 2004, Handy Mart was determined to be eligible for reimbursement from the Fund with a $20,000 deductible. Handy Mart submitted one reimbursement claim for work completed at the site, has satisfied the $20,000 deductible, and remains eligible for reimbursement from the Fund. The UST Section is willing to transfer Handy Mart’s right to receive reimbursement from the Fund to Shakunt, Inc. Once eligibility for reimbursement from the Fund is transferred, Shakunt, Inc., can be reimbursed for reasonable and necessary costs incurred on the project directly from the Fund. In addition, Shakunt, Inc., would not be required to pay any additional deductible. Please contact me at (919) 707-8170 to discuss this matter in detail. Sincerely, Herbert Berger, Jr., PG Hydrogeologist, Trust Fund Branch UST Section HB 30208_2013_10_24_Eligibility_Transfer_Ltr
