Solid Waste Facility Permit Number 60-13
Dear Ms. Drummond:
Greenway Waste Solutions of North Meck, LLC (GWSNM) is pleased to present this letter report
documenting recent gas probe installation activities at the Greenway Waste Solutions at North Meck
C&D Landfill located at 15300 Holbrooks Road, Huntersville, NC. The probes were installed in
accordance with the approved Perimeter Methane Monitoring Assessment, dated July 12, 2023 (FID
1810636) to assess subsurface methane migration in the vicinity of MMW-3 based on historical
methane concentrations in this well. Site activities included the installation for two temporary gas
probes GP-1 and GP-2. A site map depicting the locations of the new gas probes relative to MMW-
3 and the limits of the currently active waste disposal area is provided as Figure 1.
Gas Probe Installation
All gas probe installation activities were performed in general accordance with 15A NCAC 2C
.0105. On July 26, 2023, GWSNM contracted Elite Techniques, Inc. (Elite), a NC -licensed driller,
to install two temporary gas probes (GP-1 and GP-2) in the vicinity of perimeter methane
monitoring well MMW-3. Both gas probes were installed with direct push technology drilling

methods to depth of 14 feet (GP-1) and 15 feet (GP-2) below ground surface to match the depth of
perimeter methane monitoring well MMW-3. Each gas probe was constructed with 10 feet of 1-inch
schedule 40 PVC 0.010-inch slotted well screen and 1-inch schedule 40 PVC riser pipe. The annular
space around the well screen was filled with #2 filter media to 2 feet above the well screen, upon
which hydrated bentonite chips were installed up to the surrounding grade. The gas probes were
finished as temporary wells with approximately 3 feet of riser stick-up with a ball valve fitted with a
barb for soil gas monitoring. Boring logs with well construction diagrams for the gas probes are
provided as Attachment 1.
