Dear Mr. Falls:
On April 5, 2023, Ms. Amanda Thompson, representing the State of North Carolina, Division of Waste
Management Solid Waste Section (Section), inspected the above referenced facility and identified a leachate
release from the leaf pile in the yard waste processing area, into a drainage feature that was converging with
what appeared to be freshwater from another drainage area and flowing in the direction of an unnamed tributary
of Crooked Run. A follow-up inspection was conducted by Ms. Thompson on June 26, 2023. A leachate
assessment report was submitted to the Section on July 11, 2023, which summarized the analytical data from
the surface water samples that were collected. On July 25, 2023, after reviewing the analytical data, Mr. Ervin
Lane, Solid Waste Section Hydrogeologist, stated that additional assessment related to the leachate release is
not required at this time.
This letter serves to confirm that the requirements of the Notice of Violation dated April 5, 2023, has been
satisfied and the violation(s) have been corrected. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. If you have any
