Re: Landfill Monitoring
Below is the latest information available on the monitoring of leachate at the PCB Landfill.
Analytical Test Results
The July monthly samples were taken on July 23, 1999.
Influent = 0.012 ppm PCB Effluent = <0.0001 ppm PCB
The August monthly samples are scheduled to be taken on August 26, 1999.
Leachate Pumping
The leachate pumping system experienced some downtime over the past month due to clogging of the
compressed air condensate filter drain valve. Filter elements were changed in both compressed air line
filters and the condensate drain valve thoughly cleaned. Oil was drained from the compressor and
replaced with new oil.
When operating, the leachate removal rate has been 0.3 gpm versus a 0.5 gpm rate noted for the first
few months of operation. The cycle on time was increased but the rate has remained at 0.3 gpm. It is
interesting to note the 0.3 gpm is the recharge rate predicted from previous pumping.
The cumulative amount of leachate removed from the landfill since pumping continuously is
approximately 65,000 gallons.

Landfill Water Levels
Landfill water levels continue to drop. The latest measurements taken on August 17, 1999 indicated
the water level of six feet in the North well and seven feet in the South well. (The North well is lower
due to a cone of depression that is observed when pumping.)
