Since the EPA 's Roundtable on Environmental Justice in December 1997 Envro 1st staff )tj q
have been busily researching a petition drive in support of an Executive Order from the 1J? I
Governor on Environmental Justice. This petition effort is in response to staff support in )
the Solid Waste Division for an Executive Order on Environmental Justice.
We are eager to hear from you f!S to the progress you have made in this effort. We realize
that this petition drive and Executive Order may be a difficult effort, but we are writing this
letter to assure you that Enviro 1st stands in full support. Enviro 1st is building networks
with other like-minded organizations in our continuing effort to improve the lives of people
living in disenfranchised communities through a sustained campaign of Environmental
Justice.
We hope to hear from you soon. Enviro 1st will be ending the research phase of our
petition effort within the next <:9uple of weeks or sooner. We will draft a copy of the
proposed petition and send it to you for your comments. Thank you in advance for your
