Manager, Permitting and Approvals ECOLOGIC 143 Dennis Street 30 September 1997 Rockwood, Ontario, Canada, NOB 2KO Dear Ms. Kiimmling: DENR I received this morning via facsimile your letter of September 29, 1997 indicating your plans to continue with a public forum in Warren County, NC this Thursday, October 2, 1997. I was first made aware cifECO LOGIC's plans for such a meeting on Monday, September 22, 1997, in a letter from you. That same night, during a scheduled meeting of the Warren County PCB Working Group, this issue was discussed by the group, and on Tuesday morning, September 23, I relayed to you concerns brought up at that meeting. We certainly agree that opportunities for education and the ability to share technical issues with communities having waste facilities in their back yard are important, and hope that you are successful in that endeavor. Let me, however, reiterate to you two primary issues of concern: 1) It should be made clear to those attending this meeting that this is an effort being made by ECO LOGIC for opening channels of communication with residents of the area and that ECO LOGIC is not there as a representative of the state or the Warren County Working Group. 2) Likewise, it should be made clear to those attending that the ECO LOGIC process is one of the technologies being considered for detoxification but a decision has not yet been made as to which technology will be chosen. Please call me should you have any questions. Copy: Henry Lancaster, Dollie Burwell P.O.
