She got a judgment for about 3.5 million, and has been able to recover most of it. Approx. $425,000 is in an A.G. account to be distributed to various state agencies to reimburse them for money spent as of 1984. She expects to receive an additional $74,000 soon. The old DHR/Health Services group had expended approx. $16,000; they have already been reimbursed. Kathy and I have talked about using some of the remaining $425,000 + 74,000 to bring the landfill into compliance with the federal regs. Kathy thinks that she could justify spending some of the money to do that. She would argue that cleanup is first priority, and that if any money is left over after the landfill is brought into compliance, that the remainder could be divided among the state agencies who are owed money for expenses incurred prior to 1984. FYI, the state agencies who are slated to share in the $425,000+ are DOT. DOA, Crime Patrol and Public Safety, and the SBI. Do you have an idea about how much money 'Y.wu are going to need to do what you want to_ - do out there? I will be at the mston-Salem Office all day tomorrow. -I'll stop over when I get back.
