Memorandum
TO: Bill Meyer
FROM: Pat Williamson ~
SUBJECT: PCB Sampling Group
Bill, I got your note and the sampling costs.
I talked to Barry Davis today concerning the power lines. He expects
CP&L to be finished in the next couple of weeks unless we have a stretch of
bad weather. CP&L needs to gain access to the site at the first gate (not the
chain link fence), so I told Barry he needed to check with Tommy Cline and let
him know what's going on. Tommy told me a few minutes ago that he had
talked to Barry and everything was squared away.
Barry expects the last pole to be about 15-25 feet outside the chain link
fence. He was concerned about breaching the landfill liner. I told him that the
distance he mentioned was fine, that it would not interfere with the liner, and if
there was a problem, I'd call him back.
I also called Doris Fleetwood (new PCB secretary) and asked her to get
the names, addresses, and phone numbers of the property owners adjacent to
the landfill. That way, we'll have the information when and if we need it for
sampling access. According to Tommy, his office will probably have to draft a
letter to the property owners explaining what we want to do and then get their
signed permission.
I made and distributed copies of the previous sampling plan to the
sampling group members. Pierre gave me a copy of the latest safety plan
(1996) for the sampling group, and I have made copies to distribute at
Wednesday's meeting. By the way, Johnny Ford is taking Surabhi's place
because she is no longer on medical monitoring.
Bob Glazer had a conversation with Patrick Barnes concerning the
sampling plan. We need to discuss that. Bob won't be at Wednesday's meeting
but he plans to have Pete or Grover bring up the issue.
