on September 2 3 concenring my statements ab::>ut grourrlwater levels at
the PCB disp:,sal site in Warren County.
During the early stages of developing geologic info:onation at the
Warren County site, the Department of Natural Resources and Carmunity
Developnent was asked to review the prelirni.nary data. I participated
in that review. At that ti.ire, as one of the reviewers, I did state
that additional grourrlwater data was needed an::I suggested that additional
piezaneters (groundwater level rronitoring wells) m installed.
In resp::,nse to 'Our suggestion, the Department of Hunan Resources
did irrleed install additional piezaneters, an::I I cxmcurred with their
locations and depths. · These additional piezorreters are located imnediately
adjacent to the disp:,sal pit and provide a reliable meth:x1 of rronitoring
grourrlwater levels. The Department of Hunan Resources resp:,rrled p:,sitively
in providing additional data.
My statements that the Rev. Brcwn referred to were made over t\vO
years ago arrl are mt pertirent to the present situation for the reasons
outlined al:ove.
Mr. Brown also cx:mnented that ·the Piedm:>nt region was never
considered for a PCB disp:,sal site. The Warren County site and rrost
of the other sites considered are in the Piedrront Geologic Province.
