STATUS OF PERMIT:

Landfill & Horizontal Expansion Phases 1 – 4 were issued to Louisiana Pacific Corporation on April 27, 2020

None

The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance
with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an
administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit,
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to
enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any
such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS

1. The landfill is permitted to accept wood ash generated from wood-fired boilers and zinc borate sludge from the
facility’s wastewater treatment plant.
2. The Permit to Operate was current and available upon request.
3. The landfill was not in operation at the time of inspection.
4. The landfill has not received waste since April of 2020.
5. Groundwater monitoring was being performed semiannually as required. Records for the second semiannual
sampling event for 2021 (performed August 24, 2021), first semiannual sampling event for 2022 (performed
February 22, 2022), and the second semiannual sampling event for 2022 (performed August 24, 2022) were
verified via the Division of Waste Management document database.
6. The landfill was stabilized with native vegetation at the time of inspection. Some minor bare areas were observed
near the top of the landfill on the eastern portion of the site. Continue efforts to stabilize bare areas with a
groundcover sufficient to restrain erosion.
7. Vegetation on the landfill was quite tall preventing a thorough inspection. Mr. Byrd stated mowing of the landfill
was scheduled for the month of July and mowing of slopes was to begin with the next couple of weeks.
x Please notify the Solid Waste Section upon completion of mowing activities so a follow-up inspection
can be performed.
8. The detention pond was well maintained.
9. The facility was secured by a gate.
10. All access roads were of all-weather construction and well maintained.
