Dear Mr. Gregory:

This office acknowledges the receipt of your 2023 Annual Groundwater Sampling Report dated April 11,
2023 for the referenced site. Your cooperation is appreciated. The report has been reviewed and
maintained in the Guilford County Health Department in Greensboro.

The review of the report indicates that benzene and other petroleum compounds were detected at
concentrations exceeding their respective groundwater quality standards in the monitoring well. The report
indicates that hot-spot remediation may be considered for reducing the contaminant concentrations for site
closure, but remedial strategies are not provided in the monitoring report. If McLeansville Fire Department
is seeking reimbursement from NC State UST Trust Fund, remedial strategies need to be provided in the
monitoring report. But you submit a separate letter report for remedial strategies.
