Drillers will have to extract the water from the existing well. Drillers are not cheap and their schedules aren’t reliable. It may be easier and cheaper to do the shallow monitoring well because I can do that in-house. Thanks. Kirk W. McDonald, P.G. Practical Environmental Solutions, P.C. The existing well is 150 feet deep. The owner said he was considering a deeper one to get better water quality. Given the depth of the new well built to standards, do you really want to check the top on the surficial water table at halfway the distance from the former tank location? The existing well is approximately 75 feet from the former tank location. The new well will likely be further away than 75 feet but not more than 150 feet. Please confirm that the surficial aquifer well and sample are necessary. Thank you. Kirk W. McDonald, P.G. Practical Environmental Solutions, P.C. I’ve got another question for you. We removed an oil tank from this property several months ago. It leaked and you processed a NRP for it. In June you sent a letter saying the site is a High Risk and that additional work should be done regarding the onsite well. So the property owner does not think that the existing well is sufficiently deep for future use. He would like to abandon this well and install a new deeper well. What do we need to do to have you approve this course of action? And do we need to sample the new well? Let me know and call me if you want to discuss it in more detail. Thanks. Kirk W.
