The Underground Storage Tank (UST) Section, Division of Waste Management, Department of
Environmental Quality (Department) is in receipt of the Geoenvironmental Phase II Investigation report
dated January 28, 2020, which documents assessment efforts by Department of Transportation (DOT)
contractors in the right-of-way of US Highway 13 North at the aforementioned address.
The registered UST system onsite was not specifically targeted for investigation following the
procedures described in the UST Section Guidelines for Site Checks, Tank Closures, and Initial Response
and Abatement for UST Releases. However, the soil and groundwater sampling efforts in close proximity
to the UST system, owned by E.J. Pope and Son, Inc., confirm the presence of a petroleum release at the
Handy Mart 15 store (Facility ID 00-0-000005485).
If DOT or any other party plans on removing the suspected UST, notify this regional office of the
UST Section via Form UST-3 Notice of Intent: UST Permanent Closure or Change-In-Service form at least
30-days prior to the projected removal date. If you have questions regarding the information contained in
