From: Stone, Carrie Sent: Tuesday, April 21, 2020 4:00 PM To: Hunneke, Sylvia <sylvia.hunneke@ncdenr.gov> Subject: FW: [External] A Couple Non-UST Sites Hi Sylvia, William would like to close a couple of Non UST sites in Belhaven. This first one Belhaven Lots (87655) looks like it would qualify for a low risk site. The main contaminant of concern is MTBE. I ran a plume stability and it looks like it is stable/decreasing. The last time it was sampled was back in 2012. The concentrations were above 2L, but below 10X2B for Benzene and Toluene. Based on information provided by William and the adjacent former UST sites, it does not appear that there are any other receptors. I’ll have to come by the office and see if there is an existing RRA form. Just wanted to run it by you to make sure you were in agreement. I attached the latest report and MannKendall. The location on the GIS map is a little off. I will correct it in the RAST database. I am not familiar at all with Belhaven lots. I would imagine that Belhaven Bulk Plant most likely shows a decreasing trend, especially after the dig. I don’t have the files here and unfortunately they have not yet been scanned. To be totally digital would be amazing about now! I will swing by the office tomorrow and take a look at them. Thanks for looking into theses. Do not click links or open attachments unless you verify. Send all suspicious email as an attachment to report.spam@nc.gov Hey Carrie, I have a couple non-UST sites in Belhaven that qualify for the Non-UST NRPs, now that those have been ironed out. I looked into both sites, and both should be Low Risk, and can close with the completion of the Non-UST NRPs and property owner notification forms. They are: Belhaven Lots – Incident No. 87655 Intersection of NC Hwy 99 and US 264 Bus in Belhaven. There is a Speedway next door that has an NFA with NRP. No receptors are in the vicinity that would make this High Risk. Wells were last sampled in 2012, but there weren’t GCLs or FP ever out there; concentrations have always been fairly low. Any adjacent property that the plume could migrate onto is owned by Beaufort County, so it shouldn’t be too difficult to get the property owner consent form signed. Belhaven Bulk Plant – Incident No. 15328. 655 US 264 Bypass. We did a dig back in 2016-2017 which knocked out the FP/GCLs at the site. URS showed no receptors within 250’ and no potable wells within 1,000 feet. We had 2 consecutive sampling events less than GCLs or FP. This should also close with Non-UST NRP. All wells above 2L are on-site, and surrounded by clean wells. The plume is not expected to migrate off-site. I’m going to go ahead and start moving forward on the non-UST NRPs for these two sites. Depending on how long it takes to get the consent forms signed and notarized, you should see these soon. Let me know if you have any questions. William Regenthal, P. G.
