UST Section Incident #24174 Dear Mr. Williamson: The Winston–Salem Regional Office of the Underground Storage Tank Section referred the referenced leaking underground storage tank site to the state lead program. According to information available to the
Division of Waste Management, underground storage tanks formerly operated at the referenced site, released petroleum products into the environment. Furthermore, on February 3, 1994, the DWM received correspondence from Vernon Poole & Company, Inc., indicating that you purchased three pumps and two underground storage tanks at the site on January 17, 1994. Since you owned and operated USTs at the site, you are responsible for assessing and remediating contamination caused by the operation of the tanks.
