As part of the assessment, a water sample was collected from a supply well at the referenced property on November 30, 2009. The water sample was submitted for laboratory analysis of volatile organic compounds. According to the laboratory, 1,1-dichloroethane was detected in the sample at a concentration of 0.63 micrograms per liter (µg/l). The North Carolina Subchapter 2L water quality standards for 1,1-dichloroethane is 6 µg/l. The compound detected in the water sample collected from your well was not present in the groundwater samples collected at the William’s Grocery Store. Therefore, the source of the compound detected in your well is not known, and the DWM recommends that you contact the Yadkin County Health Department for information pertaining to the compound present in the well.
