RE: Former Kodell’s Grocery NC Hwy 89 Westfield Stokes County, NC
Dear Principal Beasley: The North Carolina Division of Waste Management (DWM) is completing an assessment at the former Kodell’s Grocery Store located in the area of Francisco Elementary School. As part of the assessment, the DWM collected water samples from the supply well at Francisco Elementary School on June 7, 2012. The laboratory reported that the sample contained detectable concentrations of trihalomethanes. A copy of the analytical test report is attached. A Health Risk Evaluation (HRE) was completed on analytical data from a water samples collected the well on June 22, 2012. According to the HRE, no restrictions on the use of the water are recommended at this time. In addition, the well was resampled on June 22, 2012 to confirm the results of the earlier test.
