Subject: Water Supply Well Sampling Results Former Jerry’s Place State Road, Surry County, NC Incident # 9547 Dear Jerry Allen and April Harris:
The North Carolina Division of Waste Management, Underground Storage Tank Section is conducting an environmental assessment at the referenced site. As part of the assessment, samples were collected from water supply wells in the area on May 9, 2011 for analysis of volatile organic compounds. According to the laboratory, the water sample collected from the supply well at your property contained benzene, isopropyl
ether and methyl tertiary butyl ether at concentrations of 0.58 micrograms per liter (µg/l), 0.53 µg/l, and 7.4 µg/l, respectively. Please note that your well is identified as WSW-5 on the attached analytical report. None of the detected compounds were present at concentrations exceeding the North Carolina water quality
standards. If you have any questions regarding the sampling results, the DWM UST Section recommends contacting the Surry County Health Director.
