As part of the assessment, samples were collected from water supply wells in the area on April 22, 2010 for analysis of volatile organic compounds. According to the laboratory, the water sample collected from the supply well at your property contained methyl tertiary butyl ether at a concentration of 2.9 micrograms per liter (µg/l). A portion of the analytical report is attached. Please note that your well is identified as WSW-5 on the attached analytical report. The North Carolina water quality standard for methyl tertiary butyl ether is 20 µg/l. The compound was detected at a concentration below the North Carolina Standard. If you have any questions regarding the sampling results, the DWM UST Section recommends contacting the Surry County Health Director.
