State Road, Surry County, NC DWM Incident #9547 Dear Mr. Roberts: The North Carolina Division of Waste Management has conducted site assessment activities at the referenced property. As part of the assessment, a water sample was collected from the water supply well at the site on September 24, 2008. Analytical tests conducted on the water samples indicate that the well contains petroleum hydrocarbons at concentrations exceeding the North Carolina water quality standards. A copy of the analytical report is attached. The analytical test results have been sent to Division of Waste Management toxicologist David Lilley for a health
risk evaluation (HRE), and the HRE will be sent to you upon receipt. According to information available to the Division, the well is not used for potable purposes. If you have any questions, please contact me at 919-733-1319. Sincerely
