Dear Mr. Nance: The North Carolina Division of Waste Management (Division) is currently conducting an environmental assessment at the referenced site. As part of the assessment, a water sample was
collected from the inactive water supply well located at the site on October 19, 2011. The water
sample was analyzed for volatile organic compounds using Standard Method 6200B. According to the laboratory, the sample contained petroleum compounds at concentrations exceeding the North Carolina water quality standards, and the water is not fit for consumption. The on site well is denoted as WSW-1 on the attached analytical report. According to information available
to the Division, municipal water is supplied to the site and the well is not used for potable water.
