Incident #30114 Dear Ms. Gilbert:
The North Carolina Division of Waste Management (Division) is currently conducting an environmental assessment at the referenced site. As part of the assessment, a water sample was collected from the supply well
located at the site on September 10, 2008. The water sample was analyzed for volatile organic compounds using Standard Method 6230D. According to the laboratory, the sample contained petroleum compounds at concentrations exceeding the North Carolina water quality standards, and the water is not fit for consumption.
The on site well is denoted as WSW-1 on the attached analytical report. According to information available to the Division, municipal water is supplied to the site and the well is not used for potable water. Since the well is no longer needed, the Division respectfully requests permission to permanently abandon the supply well. An
access agreement is attached for your review and signature. Your signature on the access agreement will serve as permission to abandon the well at the site. Please return the signed access agreement using the enclosed envelope.
