(Terracon) is pleased to submit this Letter Report for the above referenced property. This report has been prepared in general accordance with North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ), UST Section Guidelines for Assessment and Corrective Action for UST Releases, dated July 15, 2008, revised December 2013 and Task Authorization No. 03, approved on February 4, 2019. Terracon personnel mobilized to the site on February 5, 2019 to collect groundwater samples from six on-site monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-6), obtain a surface water sample from Jonesville Creek (SW-1), and replace O-Sox inserts within monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-5 and MW-6. The locations of the on-site monitoring wells are shown on Figure 1. Depth to water in the monitoring wells ranged from approximately 10.09 feet below ground surface (bgs) in well MW-5 to 14.52 feet bgs in well MW-3. The groundwater and surface water samples were placed in laboratory- supplied glassware, labeled and stored in an ice-packed cooler pending delivery to Pace Analytical Services, Inc. in Huntersville, North Carolina for analysis by Standard Method 6200B including MTBE, EDB, and IPE. Chain-of-custody documentation accompanied the samples to the laboratory. Following groundwater sampling activities, monitoring wells MW-1, MW-3 and MW-6 were abandoned by the NCDOT on February 26, 2019 in preparation for road work along North Main Street. Well abandonment records are provided in Appendix B. Laboratory results indicated the following petroleum constituents were detected above the 2L standards in the on-site monitoring wells; benzene in monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2 and MW-3, naphthalene in monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, MW-4 and MW-6, IPE in wells MW-1 and MW- 3, ethylbenzene, isopropylbenzene, toluene, and 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene in monitoring wells MW-1 and MW-6, n-butylbenzene and MTBE in well MW-1, 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene and total xylenes in FIGURE 1 Figure DIAGRAM IS FOR GENERAL LOCATION ONLY, AND IS NOT INTENDED FOR CONSTRUCTION PURPOSES 2701 Westport Road Charlotte, NC SITE PLANProject Manager: Drawn by: Checked by: Approved by: MAW Project No. File Name: Date: Scale: 71149678A AEK CLC Arlington BrancoCLC 1” ~ 40’Arlington Branco Oil Company (INCIDENT #30114) 270 North Main Street Jonesville, NC RESIDENTIAL MAIN STREET WOODED GARAGE MECHANICS PIT SHED ARLINGTON BRANCO OIL COMPANY STEEP SLOPE STEEP SLOPE CONCRETE WALL BRIDGE ASTs PUMPS FORMER UST BASIN FORMER DISPENSERSFORMER UST FORMER USTs FORMER DISPENSER MW-3 (Abandoned) MW-4 MW-1 (Abandoned) MW-2 MW-6 (Abandoned) MW-5 ASTs PUMPS WSW-1 approximate site boundary water supply well groundwater monitoring well March 2019 TABLE TABLE 1 Summary of Groundwater Analytical Results Arlington Branco Oil Company Jonesville, North Carolina Terracon Project No. 71149678A NCDEQ Incident No. 30114 Well/Sample I.D. ND - Not Detected at or above adjusted reporting limit. TNTC - Too Numerous To Count J - Estimated concentration above the adjusted method detection limit and below the adjusted reporting limit. MDL - Adjusted Method Detection Limit. PQL - Practical Quantitation Limit. RL - Reporting Limit - The lowest concentration value that meets project requirements for quantitative data with known precision and bias for a specific analyte in a specific matrix. S - Surrogate 1,2-Diphenylhydrazine decomposes to and cannot be separated from Azobenzene using Method 8270. The result for each analyte is a combined concentration. Consistent with EPA guidelines, unrounded data are displayed and have been used to calculate % recovery and RPD values. LCS(D) - Laboratory Control Sample (Duplicate) MS(D) - Matrix Spike (Duplicate) DUP - Sample Duplicate RPD - Relative Percent Difference NC - Not Calculable. SG - Silica Gel - Clean-Up U - Indicates the compound was analyzed for, but not detected. Acid preservation may not be appropriate for 2 Chloroethylvinyl ether. A separate vial preserved to a pH of 4-5 is recommended in SW846 Chapter 4 for the analysis of Acrolein and Acrylonitrile by EPA Method 8260. N-Nitrosodiphenylamine decomposes and cannot be separated from Diphenylamine using Method 8270. The result reported for each analyte is a combined concentration. Pace Analytical is TNI accredited.
