Hello Susan,
The Solid Waste Section does not have objections to the proposed plan to burn land -clearing debris, with the condition
of a 100-foot setback to monitoring well MW-17S, and any other nearby well or piezometer.
The location of the burn area is in the vicinity of the areas marked below, in yellow on the second map. The lat/long is
approx. 35.009007,-80.167179. Dates are 6/5/2023 to 6/30/2023, and the Forest Service burn permit is attached.
The activity must be conducted in accordance with the Forest Service burn permit and should be closely monitored by
the construction personnel.
Please inform Teresa Bradford and Deb Aja of our Section (emails above) when the activity begins and if you encounter
any problems.
Please let me know if you have any questions or comments.
Donna

Good Afternoon Teresa,
Construction of phase 4, cell 2 will begin in the coming weeks, please expect a pre -construction meeting notice.

Before we begin construction, land clearing must be performed in the cell construction area, in areas that will provide
structural fill material, and in a location chosen to stockpile protective cover. Our contractor has obtained a burn permit
for residual materials such as stumps, leaves, and small branches. A copy of the burn permit is attached.
Attachment 2, Condition 6 of the solid waste permit for Chambers Development of North Carolina. Inc. (permit number
0403-MSWLF-2010) requires Section approval prior to initiating any burning activities.
This email is a request for approval to commence with burning as needed and to be performed in compliance with the
burn permit in the areas specified for cell construction.
Please let me know if you need additional information to grant this approval.
Sincerely,
Susan Reid, PE

Remember! Only you can prevent wildfires!
Careless debris burning is a major cause of wildland fires in North Carolina. Everyone needs
to exercise extreme caution with all potential sources of wildfire ignition. Avoid burning on
dry, windy days. If changes in wind direction or wind speeds are predicted, postpone outdoor
burning. Before doing any burning, establish wide control lines cleaned to bare mineral soil at
least five feet or wider around brush piles and other piled debris to be burned. Larger debris
piles need wider control lines to ensure that burning materials will not be blown or roll off the
pile into vegetation outside the lines. Stay with all outdoor fires, until they are completely out.
Always check prior to burning for burning bans on outdoor burning.
