The PCB Landfill Monthly Inspection

The Monthly Inspection of the PCB Landfill for August continues
to indicate that the facility is in generally good condition. There
was evidence that "All-Terrain-Vehicles" have been driven around the
road cable and have been driving within the restricted area. Some
effort should be made to prevent access around the road cable by
these vehicles.
Because of extremely heavy rainfall within the past few days
prior to the monthly facility inspection, it was possible to test the
spray irrigation system for the first time in several years. This
test revealed that there are some leaks in the irrigation system,
especially in the pipe that extends past the ventilation pipe in the
middle of the landfill cap. As funding is made available, repairs
will be required to fix this problem with the irrigation system.
As soon as the necessary supplies can be purchased, additional
studies are planned to check leachate pumping rates and the static
level of leachate accumulation in the landfill cell. To date there
has been no evidence of any liner failure or any contamination from
the PCB Landfill.
The landfill facility appears to be in generally good condition
at this time. If you have any questions concerning the landfill
