Retzlaff, Director Warren County Health Department 540 West Ridgeway Street Warrenton, N.C. 27589 Dear Mr. Retzlaff: As referenced in recent correspondence with our office, the. Warren County PCB Landfill is inspected monthly and monitored twice annually. All monitoring up to the present time has given no evidence of any ground water or surface water contamination. The N.C. Department of Crime Control and Public Safety is the coordinating agency for all activities related to the PCB Landfill. Mr. E.B. Jackson, the Assistant Secretary, is the contact person for this department. The N.C. Department of Transportation has the responsibility of maintaining the PCB Landfill facility. Routine maintenance of the landfill is done by the Warren County D.O.T maintenance unit. The monthly inspections and twice yearly monitorings are done by the Solid Waste Branch of the N.C. Department of Human Resources. In the future our office will report to you the findings of our monitoring activities. The next scheduled monitoring event is · scheduled for this October. Therefore, it will be late this year before results from this sampling will be available. We will notify you of the monitoring results at that time.
