Box 2091 Raleigh, N.C. 27602-2091 Mr. William Dennis, Editor Henderson Daily Dispatch Post Office Box 908 Henderson, North Carolina 27536 Dear Mr. Dennis: Ronald H. Levine, M .P. . I 1. . 1, STATE HEALTH DIRECTOR [~ . ' - J , 'B l (µ vVl rc,Jr1,,-rB March 14, 1983 The recent letter to the editor by Deborah Ferrucio appears to question my personal honesty and integrity by stating that my statements before the Warren County Board of Commissioners differed from those I made to a group of citizens outside the commissioners~ meeting. This statement simply is not true. I am both professionally and personally convinced that the PCB landfill in Warren County, and the processes used to remove and treat water from that landfill, are as safe as possible. Neither poses any significant threat to the health of the citizens of Warren County. Mrs. Ferrucio apparently has taken my comments out of context to make it appear that I have expressed my thoughts on these matters differently to different people. This is not so, as several members of the Warren County Citizens Concerned about PCB can testify. Space does not permit me to answer Mrs. Ferrucio's allegations, point by point. However, my views on the landfill and the water removal and treatment processes, which have been consistent from the beginning, are a matter of public record. Respectfully, William L.
