PCB Re sampling
Several sites were requested to be resampled due to dat a received from the EPA
Athens Lab and the California Analytical Lab . A s ummary of this additional
sampling is as follows :
Results f rom the EPA Lab indicated a PCB l evel of 150 ppm a t s ite PB -1. PB-1
is located on NC 87 in Harnett County approximatel y 0.6 miles south of SR 1203 .
This site was resampled on November 10, 1982 by a DOT employee and myself . Five
samples were taken, but two were not analyzed as they were not needed. The
location of the sampl es and concentration a s determined by the DHR lab are as
follows:
PB-lW NC 87 300 ft north of PB-1 not analyzed
PB-lX NC 87 5 ft north of PB-1 0.87 ppm
PB-lA NC 87 on top of PB-1 l. 48 ppm
PB-lY NC 87 5 ft south of PB -1 0.36 ppm
PB-lZ NC 87 300 ft south of PB-1 not analyzed
Sample PI-21 which had orginally been listed as clean for Ac l or 1260 was r equested
to be resampled when data showed t he presents of Aclor 1242. The level present
was lis ted at 75 ppm. This site is located on NC 49 in Person County appro;(i-
mately 0.3 miles south of SR 1510. Tl.is s i te was resampled on NovembEr 15, 1982
by myself. Five samples were taken , the location of the sampl es and the
concentration as determined by the DHR Lab for Aclor 1242 are as follows:
PI-21W NC 49 300 ft north of PI -21 -<l ppm
PI-21X NC 49 5 ft north of PI-21 83 ppm
PI-21A NC 49 on top of old PI-21 18 ppm
PI-21Y NC 49 5 ft south of PI -21 43 ppm
PI-21Z NC 49 300 ft south of PI-21 <.l ppm

Due to the present of Aclor 1242 greater than 50 ppm a pickup of this 600
foot section was done by DOT personnel on November 17, 1982. DOT picked up
twelve truck loads of material from this 60 0 foot section. A final sample
from the 30 inch by 5 inch trench was taken by myself. The results of this
sample as determined by DHR Lab is as follows :
Last One NC 49 50 f t north PI-21 <l ppm .
Sample 78-3SP was a special sampl e taken at the request of a homeowner on
NC 49 in Person County . 78-3SP is located approximately 0.3 miles south of
SR 1 512 . This sample was a three core sample taken prior to any pickup. Lab
results showed the present of 87 ppm of Acl or 1242. The s ite was resampled
at the request of EPA on November 16, 1982 by Ri chard Lasater. The sample
results as determined by DHR lab is as follows :
78-X NC 49 on top of 78-3SP ,c;. 1 ppm.
All fifteen samples analyzed by the St at es Lab duri ng this special sampling
will be sent to t he contract lab in Cali fornia to be verified.
