We would like to express our thanks and admirat~on for the calm and
efficient way the State Highway Patrol handled the demonstration on the first
day of the PCB removal and landfilling operation in Warren County.
Comments we heard from the media present during the day reflected high
regard for the Patrol and the organization the Patrol showed in handling the
situation. It was a magnificient show.
You are, of course, your own best public relations. Our insistence
on the free movement of the press during the first day's activities was
predicated in part on that premise. We wanted the press to see how well
North Carolina would handle the situation. If we caused you any inconvenience,
we apologize.
