We will be holding an informal press briefing at the Warren County
PCB landfill site Wednesday, August 25, at 10:30 a.m. The purpose of
the briefing will be to provide an update on construction of the landfill,
and to review for you some of the safety features that have been built
into the project. The consulting engineers and state environmental
personnel will be on hand to answer any questions you might have.
Representatives of the Department of Transportation also will be
present to discuss the pickup and removal to the landfill of the PCB
contaminated soil.
If you would like to attend the briefing, please call me at
733-4471, or Russ Edmonston at 733-5027 so we can arrange for adequate
parking at the landfill site near Afton. A map to the landfill is
attached for your convenience.
The briefing should be very informative, and I hope you will be
able to attend.

DIRECTIONS 'ID LANDFILL--If you are headed to the landfill from the Raleigh area,
take Highway 401 to Elberon. Stay on 401 for about two miles beyond Elberon,
where you will make a right tum onto State Road 1604. Road 1604 will fork
to the left after you travel about six miles. Approximately two miles after the
road forks you should see the entrance to the landfill on the right.
