SUBJECT: ~CB Spill -Mitchell County
--L·tr' Per telephone conversation with Mr. 0. W. Strickland,
Human Resources, samples taken of subject spill by Mr. Gross,
yielded concentrations of 10, 10, 16 and 32 parts per million
PCB. Mr. Strickland indicated these concentrations are below
those considered hazardous by EPA and that no further action is
necessara. However, according to Mr. Stricfland, Mr. Gross had
indicate a total spill of approximately 6 gallons. Our forces
indicate the spill occurred over a length of approximately 1.35
miles with discharge off the pavement at two locations.
I relayed this information to Mr. Dave Kelly, CCPS. He
had previously dispatched members of his staff to investigate
spill. He will advise if any further action on part of DOT
is necessary.
I advised Mr. Dan Martin, 13th Division, to take no
further a~tion until instructions are received from Crime Control
and Public Safety.
