PROGRESS MADE THIS MONTH Remedial Action (RA) -HABITAT MITIGATION. No activities were conducted this month. Remedial Action (RA) -GROUNDWATER TREATMENT. The treatment system operated without fail from June 23'" to July 22 nd, 2004. On July 27th, when the operator returned for his routine visit, he noticed that a fuse failed in the main disconnect panel. The operator replaced this fuse and restarted the system. By comparing the effluent meter reading to the typical flow, the operator determined that the system was down for approximately 120 hours. System perfomiance was monitored on a biweekly basis. Approximately 45,270 gallons of groundwater were extracted, treated in the treatment plant, and discharged between June 23, 2004 and July 27, 2004. System water samples were collected on July 2 and July 13, 2004 in accordance with the sampling schedule in the O&M manual. Samples were submitted to Severn Trent Laboratories, Inc. for laboratory analysis. The operations and sampling programs are summarized on the attached Table I. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Remedial Action (RA) -EFFECTIVENESS MONITORING PROGRAM. No activities were conducted this month. Remedial Action (RA) -CORRESPONDENCE. None. PROBLEMS RESOLVED None. PROBLEMS ANTICH' A TED None. Morrisville, NC USEPA DOCKET NUMBERS: 93-09-C PERIOD ENDING: March 31, 2004 1. PROGRESS MADE THIS MONTH Remedial Action (RA) -HABITAT MITIGATION. No activities were conducted this month. Remedial Action (RA)-GROUNDWATER TREATMENT. The treatment system operated throughout the month without upset. System performance was monitored on a biweekly basis. Approximately 50,720 gallons of groundwater were extracted, treated in the treatment plant, and discharged between March I, 2004 and March 31, 2004. System water samples were collected on March 5 and March 25, 2004 in accordance with the sampling schedule in the O&M manual. Samples were submitted to Severn Trent Laboratories, Inc. for laboratory analysis. Note that due to unusual circumstances, the samples collected on March 5th were not shipped until March 11 th and thus received on March 12th . This late arrival of the samples caused the semivolatiles to be extracted outside the hold time and therefore, the results should be considered as estimates. The operations and sampling programs are summarized on the attached Table I. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Remedial Action (RA) -EFFECTIVENESS MONITORING PROGRAM. No activities were conducted this month.
