Market Street, Greensboro Guilford County, North Carolina Incident Number: 6367 Dear Mr. Sligh: This office acknowledges the receipt of a Remediation Action Progress Report (August-December 2017) dated January 5, 2018 and a Groundwater Monitoring Report dated January 16, 2018 for the referenced site. Your cooperation is appreciated. The reports have been reviewed and maintained in the Guilford County Health Department in Greensboro. A review of the reports and historical groundwater sampling results for MW-39 indicates that the benzene concentrations have fluctuated around the gross contaminant concentration level (GCL) for benzene since 1994 and the AS/SVE system is still in operation to address the GCL violation at the site. This office may consider site closure under risk-based rules if no GCL violations are detected in four (4) consecutive quarterly groundwater-monitoring events after shutdown of the active remediation system. If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact Gene Mao at the Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services, 400 W. Market Street, Suite 300, North Carolina 27401 and/or (336) 641-3589.
