The activities were conducted in response to the December 8, 2022 correspondence from the NCDEQ. On December 30, 2022, GRI mailed a letter to the owners of WSW-4 to see whether they would be willing to switch over to municipal water. To date, no response has been received. Additional attempts will be made to contact the owner of WSW-4. On January 3, 2023, GRI arrived onsite to gauge, purge, and sample all monitoring wells. No free product was observed onsite. Ground water samples were collected from the monitoring wells and submitted for analyses of VOCs and oxygenates by EPA Method 6200B. Depths to water in the wells ranged from 42.91 to 43.85 feet prior to sampling. A Site Location Map and Site Map have been included as Figures 1 and 2. Please see the attached laboratory report for the results of the January 2023 ground water sampling. The concentrations of BTEX constituents, MTBE, naphthalene, isopropylbenzene, n-propylbenzene, IPE, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, ethanol, 2-hexanone, TAA, TBA, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, ethanol, 2-hexanone, isopropylbenzene, IPE, n-propylbenzene, TCE, 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene, and/or 1,3,5-trimethylbenzene reported in the ground water samples collected from MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, and/or MW-4 exceeded the MACs. The concentration of benzene in MW-1 exceeded the GCL.
