After review of this report, DWM concurs with semi- annual groundwater monitoring and soil profiling in the vicinity of the source area. In addition to the groundwater samples collected in the previous event, samples should also be collected from monitoring wells MW-5, MW-18, MW-19, MW-20 and TW-1 and water supply well WSW-2. The laboratory analysis should include oxygenates. Moving toward corrective action, soil borings should be advanced in and around the source area to determine the vertical and horizontal extent of contamination (to include the extent of the smear zone). Environmental data should be recorded during this process. Soil samples for TPH analysis should be collected from the most observed “contaminated” intervals - at least one from the unsaturated and one from the smear zone. The results of these efforts should be summarized in a monitoring report consistent with our report templates and include updated geologic cross-sections and recommendations to mitigate the release. The monitoring report should be submitted by February 2023. If State Trust Fund reimbursement is anticipated, please submit a completed pre-approval form to the Division before any work has been completed.
