Aufderhaar, P.G., Environmental Program Consultant North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality Division of Waste Management 1646 Mail Service Center Raleigh, North Carolina 27699-1646 Re: Remedial Action Progress Report, 2022 Third Quarter Former Seaboard Chemical and Riverdale Drive Landfill Site Jamestown, Guilford County, North Carolina Dear Mr. Aufderhaar: The Seaboard Group II and the City of High Point are providing this 2022 Third Quarter Remedial Action Progress Report for the former Seaboard Chemical Corporation facility and the closed Riverdale Drive Landfill located in Jamestown, NC. During the third quarter of 2022 the mechanical and phytoremediation treatment systems processed 3,571,324 gallons of extracted groundwater and leachate. Also during the third quarter of 2022 the following shutdowns exceeding one day in duration occurred: Date Duration Reason for Shutdown July 4, 2022 1.25 days Automatic — High pressure in bag filter July 16, 2022 1.5 days Automatic — Power failure August 6, 2022 1.5 days Automatic — High level in tank T-703 August 16, 2022 15.0 days Manual — Citric wash, clarifier/tipper box repairs As noted above, the system was shut down for two weeks in mid -August for a complete citric wash of the entire treatment system. During the shutdown maintenance and repairs were made to the clarifier system and the sludge -drying tipper boxes. Since resumption of operations, no shut downs have occurred. The first quarterly sampling for the TM -I I Extraction System Evaluation Monitoring was conducted the last week of September 2022. The results of this monitoring will be provided with the 2022 Fourth Quarter Remedial Action Progress Report or earlier. The clearing and site preparation work for the irrigation line replacement has begun with an estimated completion date of the first quarter of 2023. The attached figures provide the results of the full scale operation of the treatment system during the third quarter of 2022, including: Operating Data, Process Flow Data, Static Water Level Data, System Chemistry, Utility Use Data, and Contaminant Mass Removal. Averages calculated from a greater number of samples show that influent and effleuent mass are essentially equal.
