Hello Jarrett,
I've reviewed the application for the American Tire Distributors scrap tire collection site, and I have the following
questions and comments:
1. An outline boundary of the scrap tire collection/storage area should be shown on a map. Also show the access
road, if applicable.
2. It is our understanding that the Wilson County Transfer Station is not accepting scrap tires from commercial
customers. The application should include the plans for disposition of the tires, including the names, addresses,
and permit information, if applicable, of all facilities where the tires will be recycled, processed, or disposed.
3. The letter from the fire department states that tires would be stored first under an existing shelter which has a
sprinkler system. Identify this on a map and state whether all tires would be loaded into the storage
trailers/containers by the end of the day.
4. Please clarify the maximum number of tires, and amount in tons, to be stored onsite at any given time. I believe
from the following sentence in the application that it is 40 tons, but it should be worded to state maximum
stored at the site at any given time — "On -site storage will be temporary until picked up by the recycler, or until
we transport to the recycler, and is estimated to be 40 tons at one time."
Please submit a revised application (pdf only), with a cover letter that includes responses to comments. Revisions to the
application should be incorporated into the text of the application.
