IV. Inspector Comments
V. PHOTOGRAPHS
Photo 1: Elite Radon injecting smoke below VIMS barrier. Shop Vac is used to push smoke from
smoke machine under VIMS barrier for leak testing.
The Site Inspection was performed to observe Terracon VIMS barrier inspection
consisting of smoke testing, coupon sampling, potential repairs including respraying if
required and application of protective geotextile cover once completed. During smoke
testing, one significant location was identified that needed repair (Photos 1 through 3) in
addition to several smaller areas which were resprayed. Coupon samples of the barrier
were measured, repaired, then approximately 25% of the barrier was resprayed to build
up thickness where coupon samples were slightly thinner than required (Photos 5
through 7). Following respraying, a protective geotextile barrier was installed over entire
VIMS barrier prior to pouring concrete.
