Dear Mr. Wommack,
On May 13, 2021, the State of North Carolina, Division of Waste Management Solid Waste Section
(Section) issued a Notice of Violation (NOV) letter to you regarding violations at your land clearing
and inert debris (LCID) landfill located at 300 West 101" Street, Weldon, NC in Halifax County. The
Section conducted a follow-up inspection of the Site on June 30, 2021. During the follow-up
inspection it was determined that the identified construction and demolition (C&D) waste had
been removed from the site. However, the LCID waste had not been compacted and covered nor
moved away from property lines to meet appropriate buffers. It was also determined during the
follow-up inspection that you are continuing to accept waste at the facility. Due to the fact that
the violations(s) noted in the May 13, 2021 NOV letter have not been corrected at the is time,
you are hereby notified that the Section intends to move forward in the enforcement process. In
order to potentially abate any further action forthcoming, it is recommended that the corrective
actions listed in the NOV letter be taken immediately upon receipt of this notice.
Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day
may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the NC General Statutes. Further, Mr. Wommack,
you, may also be subject to enforcement actions including penalties, injunctions from operation
