1Kirchner, ChuckFrom:chad huffine <[e-mail]>Sent:Thursday, August 18, 2022 4:04 PMTo:Kirchner, Chuck; Kenneth PhillippieSubject:[External] ALAMANCE COUNTY - Phillippie - LCID - New Cell - North - Water TableAttachments:final Phillippie Landfill_base (13) TEST PIT LOGS 11x17 (1).pdf; final Phillippie Landfill_base (6) Landfill Profile (1).pdf; final Phillippie Landfill_base (5) Landfill Profile (1).pdf; final Phillippie Landfill_base (1) Existing Conditions (1).pdfCAUTION: External email. Do not click links or open attachments unless you verify. Send all suspicious email as an attachment to Report Spam.  Hey Chuck,  Kenneth asked me to provide you with information on the water table relative to the bottom of the landfill "floor" on the northern part of the site.  The plan / profiles attached are a part of the approved plan set, as are the test pit records for the sites.  Soil, rock and water table information (or lack thereof on this site) was reported during our permitting / planning and test pit work.  I understand that we will need to provide you with a verification of the landfill bottom as Kenneth begins to open up the cell.  In summary, based on the test pit information, the floor elevation of the landfill will rock‐out before we hit water.  IE the excavators will encounter difficult excavation materials that they can not penetrate at or above elevation 550.  Confined test pit excavations with the PC 200 sized machine equipped with soil teeth could dig pits at the deepest to elevation 554.  This pit encountered refusal on weather rock and was dry at the time of excavation and after 24 hours.   Since water was not encountered at this location or any others and since the excavator was refused at or above elevation 554, we set the proposed landfill floor permit‐able at 550 so that we can verify the 4' separation with conventional equipment.   The plan profiles and the test pit records are attached for you, you might not have these sheets.  Both the plans and the permit call for the separation verification once the cell opens.  Kenneth will call us when that work starts so that we can observe and issue a report.  Please feel free to call me anytime if you need anything.  Thank you, Chad 919‐815‐4345
