NAME OF FACILITY: Rutherford County Solid Waste PERMIT # 8104T
DATE AND TIME OF FIRE: June 16 2022 @ approx 2:20pm
HOW WAS THE FIRE REPORTED AND BY WHOM:
An employee working at the transfer station (Nathanel White) notified the landfill supervisor.
LIST ACTIONS TAKEN:
Immediately used fire hose to extinguish the fire. Called the Rutherfordton Fire Department for safety reasons and a fire report. Kept using fire hose until the fire
9epartment arrived and took over the issue.
WHAT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE:
According to the fire report the cause of the fire was undetermined.
DESCRIBE AREA, TYPE, AND AMOUNT OF WASTE INVOLVED:
Happened at the transfer station in a trailer that was being loaded to haul trash from the transfer station to the landfill. Amount of waste is estimated at around 3-4
:ons.
WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN DONE TO PREVENT THIS FIRE:
As the fire source was undetermined, no one has any thoughts on how the fire could have been prevented.
DESCRIBE PLAN OF ACTIONS TO PREVENT FUTURE INCIDENTS:
Try to allow trash to sit on the transfer station floor longer.
