The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an
administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit, or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS 1. The Septage Detention and Treatment facility (SDTF) consisted of one 4,000-gallon, one 8,000-gallon, and one 12,000-gallon tank for a total capacity of 34,000 gallons. These tanks are above ground and shall be used for the storage of domestic septage (including portable toilet waste) and grease trap septage.
2. There was also a 20,000-gallon tank on site that is NOT listed on the permit. This tank shall not be used for septage storage until placed in position, inspected by the Solid Waste Section and found to be in compliance.
3. Set-back/buffer requirements appear to have been met. 4. The “No Trespassing” sign needs to be replaced. 5. All weather roads are maintained for access to the site.
6. The 4,000-gallon, 8,000-gallon and 12,000 tanks appeared to be structurally sound and well maintained. The 10,000-gallon tank was observed during previous inspections to have multiple open holes and extensive rust damage with evidence of a previous leaks on the side. The tank has been emptied and no longer listed on the permit and cannot be used. 7. No leaks or spills were observed around the tanks. 8. No odors were observed around the tanks.
