The UST Section, Division of Waste Management (DWM), Mooresville Regional Office
(MRO) received the October 20, 2021 Free Product Recovery/Monitoring Report on October 20,
2021. The report recommending conducting an eight to 10-hour aggressive fluid vapor recovery
event (AFVE) event at monitoring well MW-2 — returning to the site two months following the
AFVR event to collect free product data in monitoring wells MW-1, MW-2, MW-3, and EW-1 and
that a Free Product Recovery Report be performed summarizing the AFVR and free product
measurement event. was reviewed and approved on November 23, 2021. The paper report copies
will be maintained in the MRO. The electronic copy has been loaded to the DWM's electronic
document storage system (Laserfiche).
The report states:
• Between March 17, 2021, and August 24, 2021, free product was observed in monitoring
well MW-2 on March 17,2021 and August 24, 2021 at thicknesses of 0.02 feet and 0.11 feet
respectively. Free product was only identified in MW-2 at 0.24 feet during the August 30,
2021 sampling event.
• Current data indicates that the predominant groundwater flow at the site is in a northeasterly
direction.
• Review of the laboratory analytical results indicated eleven VOCs and SVOCs detected in
the samples collected from monitoring wells MW-1, MW-3, MW-4, MW-6, MW-7, MW-8,
MW-9, MW-10, MW-11, and EW-1 at concentrations greater than their respective 2L

Standards. However, no targeted constituents were detected at concentrations exceeding
respective GCLs. No compounds were detected in the samples collected from monitoring
well MW-12 at concentrations exceeding their respective 2L Standards. No compounds were
detected in the samples collected from monitoring wells MW-7, MW-8, MW-10, and MW-12
at concentrations greater than the laboratory method reporting limit.
• One non -petroleum compound, tetrachloroethene, was detected in monitoring wells MW-4,
MW-7, MW-8, MW-10, and MW-I I at a concentration great than its corresponding 2L
Standard.
• S&ME concludes that overall dissolved contaminant concentrations appear have generally
decreased with the compared to the September 2019 sampling event. No targeted constituents
were detected at concentrations exceeding their GCL.
• A total of approximately 0.43 gallons of free product was recovered via product adsorbent
socks during this reporting period. A review of the historical free product thickness data
suggests that the volume of free product at the site has decreased.
Per this Notice of Regulatory Requirements:
• Continue free product recovery.
• Continue annual groundwater sampling/monitoring.
• The next monitoring/recovery report is due no later than October 31, 2022.
